If you look closely at the red part of the HST in the above picture, you will notice that the red half is actually made of two different red fabrics. When the pineapple blossom blocks are sewn, one places a 3-1/2" square on the corner and sews diagonally. I double sew and keep the part most would dispose of.
The result of my frugality is this nifty pieced inner border on the quilt. Try it--you'll like it.
